About the Location
The Valle d'Itria, a beautiful inland area of Puglia, is defined by its unique landscape of gently rolling hills, ancient olive groves, and red earth. It is often called "the land of the trulli" because of the countless conical, dry-stone houses that dot the countryside. These iconic dwellings, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are the defining architectural feature of the region.
The valley is home to several enchanting towns, each known for its own unique charm. Martina Franca is famous for its elegant Baroque architecture, while Locorotondo, a circular white-washed village, offers breathtaking panoramic views. Alberobello is the undisputed capital of the trulli, where entire neighborhoods are made up of these distinctive buildings. Other notable towns include Cisternino and Ceglie Messapica, both celebrated for their stunning historic centers, great food, and relaxed atmosphere.
What makes the Itria Valley so popular is its captivating blend of natural beauty, unique architecture, and a sense of timeless tradition. It embodies a slower pace of life, inviting visitors to enjoy authentic local experiences, from savoring fresh, local cuisine to simply admiring the peaceful, idyllic scenery.
